D&D Import Japan Officially Launches BYD Dealership Business in Japan

Official Launch of BYD Dealership in Japan

D&D Import Japan, a subsidiary of D&D Holdings located in Tokyo, has officially started its BYD dealership operations as of July 1, 2026. This transition involves the transfer of dealership rights for the electric vehicle brand BYD from D&D Management along with the management of three key locations: BYD AUTO Okinawa, BYD AUTO Sapporo West, and BYD AUTO Sapporo. This strategic move aims to enhance decision-making processes and expertise in the emerging electric vehicle (EV) market.

Business Transition Motives

D&D Group has been operating as a BYD dealer in Okinawa and Hokkaido through its MGF (Mobility Guides Future) division. The motivation behind consolidating the BYD business within D&D Import Japan is to streamline operations and enhance the company’s capabilities, ultimately allowing for a stronger focus on expanding EV-related initiatives. D&D Import Japan plans not only to sell BYD vehicles but also to broaden its portfolio to include a variety of other imported car brands.

Expansion and Area Strategy

Starting this July, D&D Import Japan is set to manage three specific dealerships:
  • - BYD AUTO Okinawa (Prefectural Office Showroom)
  • - BYD AUTO Sapporo West
  • - BYD AUTO Sapporo

With this foundation laid, the company aims to establish further locations in Okinawa and Hokkaido, particularly in areas like Asahikawa. The focus will be on building a local sales and service network that meets the demands of the region. Additionally, beyond expanding the BYD brand, D&D Import Japan plans to cater to diverse customer needs by tapping into other imported car brands, facilitating growth in its overall operations.

Anticipation for the New Light EV, BYD RACCO

D&D Import Japan is also excited to announce the upcoming launch of a new light electric vehicle, the BYD RACCO, which is scheduled for release in July 2026. This vehicle is tailored for the unique conditions and market demands of Japan, representing the first-ever EV light car in the imported vehicle sector. The introduction of the BYD RACCO is expected to reduce barriers for everyday consumers and business users considering EV options, making them more accessible. D&D Import Japan is set to complement this launch with robust promotional campaigns and support at all locations, reinforcing their commitment to regional decarbonization efforts.

Statements from Company Leadership

Kenichi Ujiie, President of D&D Import Japan, expressed enthusiasm for this new chapter, stating:
