Marui Family Shiki, operated by Marui Co., Ltd. based in Nakano, Tokyo, is thrilled to announce a series of community-focused events titled "I♡Asaka Fest," "I♡Niza Fest," and "I♡Shiki Fest." These events aim to celebrate the beloved localities of Shiki City, Asaka City, and Niza City while showcasing the creativity of elementary school students.
Event Overview
Over three consecutive weekends, beginning from November 7 to November 25, 2023, Marui Family Shiki will transform into a hub for local flavors and culture. The first event, "I♡Asaka Fest,'' has already concluded successfully, featuring numerous engaging activities and collaborations with local schools and eateries.
What to Expect at the Festivals
Each festival focuses on unique collaborations between students from local schools and nearby restaurants:
I♡Asaka Fest (Completed)
Held from November 7 to November 9, this event highlighted the creativity of the sixth graders from Asaka Elementary School. Students partnered with local favorites such as Marion Crepe and Misora Shokudo to develop original dishes, giving attendees a taste of their community's culinary traditions. Notable menu items included the "Asaka Lunch Box" and flavorful crepes featuring fresh fruits.
Additionally, third graders joined forces with social design team #C-pla to create capsule toys inspired by the things they love about their community.
I♡Niza Fest (November 14 to November 16)
The following festival will feature sixth graders from Tohoku Elementary School in Niza City, who are collaborating with local businesses like Kitano Ace and PAOPAO to present another array of original dishes. Attendees can expect to savor exciting new menu items such as "Niza's Delicious Salad" and unique meat dishes.
Students from the same school will also collaborate with #C-pla to continue the creative trend of making capsule toys reflecting their love for the community.
I♡Shiki Fest (November 23 to November 25)
The last of the series will see sixth graders from Shiki Elementary School join hands with local establishments and chefs, including famed French restaurant La Sancerre. Students will work on creative dishes and engage in activities that further promote their rich local culture.
There are also plans for students from various grades to design initiatives aimed at enhancing local tourism and community spirit through creative collaborations.
