American Burgers Certified by the U.S. Embassy Leave a Lasting Impression

On May 28 and 29, the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) hosted its first evaluation of the "U.S. Embassy Certified Program" in Tokyo. Held at the cafeteria of the U.S. Embassy, this event focused on local hamburger shops, showcasing their best burgers made with 100% American beef patties. About 150 embassy staff members participated in tasting and judging, leading to the selection of six establishments recognized as "U.S. Embassy Certified American Burger Shops." The certification ceremony is scheduled for June 25, where approved shops will receive a certificate and an official logo to demonstrate their achievement.

Overview of the U.S. Embassy Certified Program

The certification program recognizes restaurants that meet the U.S. Embassy's standards for quality and ensures they use 100% American beef in their hamburger offerings. This inaugural event showcased some of the finest American hamburgers from various participating stores, allowing tasting sessions conducted by embassy officials who provided stringent evaluations to pick the best creations. Each recognized store will proudly display their official certification as a sign of quality assurance, ensuring diners can trust they are getting an authentic American burger experience.

U.S. Embassy's Enthusiasm for the Program

Eric Hansen, the Director of the Agricultural Trade Office at the U.S. Embassy, greeted the attendees, expressing joy in sharing the iconic American hamburger. He emphasized excitement about the program, highlighting an increase in gourmet burger establishments within Japan, yet not all utilize American beef. "Today, we introduce you to restaurants dedicated to using 100% American beef in their burgers because nothing compares to the taste of a hamburger made with American beef," Hansen remarked. Attendees nodded in agreement, feeling the anticipation build as the tasting and judging commenced.

Excitement Grows for Burgers Featuring 100% American Beef Patties

As the cafeteria buzzed with activity, chefs from participating establishments showcased their dedication by meticulously preparing their 100% American beef hamburgers. The aroma of sizzling meat wafted through the air, with chefs eager to demonstrate their culinary expertise. Shinji Amagasaki from YUMMY BURGER shared, "I want to deliver the same quality we offer at our restaurant." This eagerness reflected the passion that fueled their cooking and showcased the distinctive flavors of American beef.

Authentic Hamburgers Made with 100% American Beef

During the tasting, participants received mini sliders, offering a chance for the judges to closely savor each burger. Following the tastings, judges expressed their enjoyment of the burgers’ unique qualities and the rich flavors from the American beef. They shared insights such as, "The meat flavor was outstanding, and I hope to see these places again!" emphasizing how deeply they appreciated the burgers crafted with care.
