Dr. Curtis Langlotz Joins Sirona Medical's Board

On March 6, 2025, Sirona Medical, a prominent player in cloud-native radiology software, announced a significant addition to its leadership team with the appointment of Dr. Curtis Langlotz to its board of directors. Dr. Langlotz, who serves as the Founder and Director of Stanford's Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Imaging (AIMI Center), is recognized as a pioneering figure in the fusion of artificial intelligence and medical imaging. His extensive experience in clinical AI and innovation places him among the forefront thinkers in the field.

Having spent nearly two decades advocating for advancements in medical imaging, Dr. Langlotz has made substantial contributions to the application of AI in healthcare. He holds the distinction of being one of the most cited researchers in this domain, with his academic lab at Stanford nurturing numerous leading researchers and innovative startups focusing on medical AI.

His influential 2015 publication, The Radiology Report, has become a benchmark in radiology documentation, illustrating key innovations in reporting practices. Expressing his enthusiasm for joining Sirona Medical, Dr. Langlotz stated, "Sirona Medical is positioned to fundamentally change how radiology is practiced, from how we produce reports to the nature of the report product itself. I’m thrilled to join their Board of Directors and be a part of helping Sirona accomplish its mission of accelerating the transition to AI-powered healthcare."

Ken Kaufman, the CEO of Sirona Medical, shared his confidence in Dr. Langlotz's capability to drive significant influence within the boardroom, stating, "Dr. Langlotz has done more to shape AI in radiology than just about anyone else and has been an important technical advisor to Sirona since our inception." Over the past year, the company has experienced remarkable growth, incorporating over 15 new practices into its Unify platform and doubling its platform usage quarterly for five consecutive quarters. The recent $45M Series C funding round is a testament to the ongoing expansion, propelling the total capital raised to $108M.

Cameron Andrews, the Founder and President of Sirona Medical, expressed deep respect for Dr. Langlotz, elaborating on his multifaceted role as a mentor and advisor. "His brand of technical leadership, professional passion, profound kindness, and intellectual humility personify who we’ve built Sirona to be," said Andrews.

Reflecting on the journey from conception to reality, Dr. Langlotz noted, "Cameron walked into my office eight years ago with an idea that I told him would take a lot of money and time to get right. It’s exciting to see Sirona delivering on that vision we share, and I'm looking forward to working closely with Sirona's leadership team in this new role."
