Why This Seminar Matters

Amid Japan's ongoing aging population and declining birth rates, the demand for caregiving continues to rise. According to statistics from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 3.65 million individuals (often referred to as 'business caregivers') are balancing work with caregiving, while approximately 106,000 people leave their jobs annually due to caregiving needs. Notably, many employees affected by caregiving responsibilities are within the 40s to 50s age range—those who play critical roles within their companies. Hence, understanding employees' caregiving circumstances and creating a supportive work environment is essential for both personal well-being and the sustainable growth of the organization.

In light of this, the government has been promoting initiatives to support the balance between work and caregiving. With the amended Child Care and Family Care Leave Act set to take effect in April 2025, companies will be mandated to provide detailed information on caregiving leave systems and support measures, conduct employee training, and establish consultation frameworks. The updated health management evaluation criteria reflect these legal changes and stress the importance for enterprises to develop support systems more than ever.
