Hankook's Dynapro R213 Shines at WRC Rally de Portugal 2026

From May 7 to 10, 2026, the world of rally racing focused on Matosinhos, Portugal, as it hosted the sixth round of the FIA World Rally Championship, known as the Vodafone Rally de Portugal. As the exclusive tire supplier for the championship, Hankook Tire & Technology demonstrated its state-of-the-art engineering capabilities through its advanced tires, particularly the Dynapro R213, crafted for the demanding conditions of the event.

The Rally de Portugal carries a rich history in the WRC, having started its journey in 1973 and now standing out as a prominent fixture on the rally calendar. This year, participants faced a challenging course comprising 23 special stages, covering an approximately 345 kilometer competitive distance. The stages combined moments of high-speed racing with intricate technical sections, testing both the drivers and their vehicles.

One of the major challenges during the event was the rapid deterioration of the soft gravel roads. The initial lap on these surfaces provided little grip, placing an emphasis on stable driving. As the race progressed, the roads revealed treacherous sharp rocks and deep ruts, putting the durability and handling of tires to the ultimate test. Notably, the Amarante stage was highlighted as the rally's longest segment, stretching about 26 kilometers and filled with a mix of tight corners and high-speed stretches needing precise control and strategic tire management from drivers.

In response to these demanding conditions, Hankook supplied their cutting-edge Dynapro R213 tires. These extreme all-terrain tires are designed to maintain consistent performance across gravel and rocky terrains. Built to absorb impacts from rough surfaces while maintaining excellent grip and handling at high speeds, the Dynapro R213's construction included a robust casing structure and an optimized tread pattern, crucial for maneuvering through the race's grueling landscape.

The flexibility of the Dynapro R213 is accentuated by its availability in two different compounds: Hard and Soft. This allows teams to choose the ideal tire compound based on the stage conditions, promoting strategic adaptability in response to the changing environment throughout the rally. The hard compound provides durability while the soft delivers enhanced grip, addressing the various challenges of each segment of the race.

To further augment their presence at the rally, Hankook set up its 'Brand World' booth within the service park, contributing to the event's vibrant atmosphere. This booth offered fans and visitors a chance to engage with the brand through interactive experiences, including motorsport heritage exhibitions, racing simulators, merchandise sales, and designated photo opportunities, all aimed at improving the overall experience at this prestigious event.

Hankook’s commitment to innovation in high-performance tire technology is evident through its integration of driving data collected not only from the WRC but also from other global motorsport events. Serving as the exclusive tire supplier for all WRC classes since the 2025 season, Hankook is continuously showcasing its technological prowess on a global scale. The company's unwavering focus on evolving its premium brand solidifies its reputation in the world of motorsport.

As the WRC Rally de Portugal unfolds, Hankook's Dynapro R213 stands as a testament to relentless durability and performance under pressure, reinforcing Hankook's position as a leader in tire technology for motorsports.
