BUOYANCY AEROSPACE Unveils Cutting-Edge Anodising Line for Aerospace Manufacturing

BUOYANCY AEROSPACE Launches a Revolutionary Anodising Line

BUOYANCY AEROSPACE has officially announced the launch of its latest Thin-Film Sulphuric Acid Anodising (TFSAA) treatment line, which operates under the MIL-A-8625 Type IIB standard. This innovative production capability is specifically designed to meet the rigorous demands of the aerospace and defense industries.

Features of the TFSAA Treatment Line

This newly developed anodising line boasts a fully automated setup, featuring a custom-designed Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) that ensures precise and high-resolution control at the tank level. The company has rigorously validated this system, subjecting it to over 100 fault-injection scenarios to guarantee fast and reliable operational responses. Notably, since the onset of commercial production, BUOYANCY AEROSPACE has reported an impeccable record of no out-of-spec process-control events.

Safety and Security Measures

What sets this line apart from conventional models is its advanced safety features. While traditional anodising lines often rely on a single-tier shut-off mechanism, BUOYANCY AEROSPACE's installation integrates multiple safety systems, including power isolation via circuit breakers, multi-sensor detection mechanisms for smoke and heat, as well as automatic suppression systems. These features are in strict adherence to RISCAuthority RC45 guidelines for electroplating fire safety. The line's advanced monitoring technology enhances operator situational awareness, significantly mitigating risks associated with fire hazards in manufacturing environments.

Dr. Deepak Asokan, the UK Head of Operations at BUOYANCY AEROSPACE, emphasized the importance of this investment, stating, "This investment de-risks customer programmes by embedding resilience and upgrade paths directly into our processes for sovereign defence manufacturing."

Integrated End-to-End Solutions

The TFSAA line also incorporates non-destructive testing techniques (NDT), including ultrasonic testing (UT), penetrant testing (PT), magnetic particle testing (MT), eddy current testing (ET), and radiography, as appropriate for quality assurance. In addition to these testing capabilities, it integrates a modern paint facility that is qualified for use with aerospace coatings, particularly for components with critical fracture concerns.

Environmentally Responsible Manufacturing

This treatment line is not only focused on performance but also on sustainability. It utilizes Cr(VI)-free chemistries, including Trivalent Chromium (TCS) and Precursors to Anodisation Coatings (PACS) for conversion and post-sealing processes. Moreover, the line features digital traceability provided by the company's Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Quality Management System (QMS), which allows for rapid scaling and upgrades without significant operational disruption.

Daniel Hutta, the UK Head of Quality, Compliance, Health & Safety at BUOYANCY AEROSPACE, who spearheaded the cross-functional program, remarked, "This is a safety-integrated, scalable treatment capability for critical aerospace components."
