Community First Health Plans Celebrates 30 Years of Dedicated Service in Texas Health Care

A Celebration of Service: Community First Health Plans

On October 29, 2025, the Texas Association of Community Health Plans (TACHP) proudly recognized Community First Health Plans for reaching an incredible milestone: three decades of serving the health needs of the community in Bexar County and the surrounding areas.

Since its establishment in 1995, Community First has positioned itself as a crucial player in local health care, catering specifically to low-income families. Over the years, it has provided invaluable support to more than 3.5 million individuals by increasing access to critical health services. This dedication to community well-being is what sets Community First apart and highlights its commitment to holistic care.

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Community First launched the "30 Over 30" initiative, which aims to honor 30 organizations and individuals who have also dedicated over 30 years to positively impacting the health and wellness of their communities. This initiative reflects the collective spirit of service that defines the greater San Antonio area.

A Community-Oriented Program

Janet Walker, the President and CEO of TACHP, emphasized the importance of community engagement, stating, "TACHP is embedded in the communities that we serve. We're proud to shine a light on Community First for its '30 Over 30' initiative." This commitment to making a difference resonates across the diverse health plans within the TACHP umbrella.

Theresa Rodriguez Scepanski, President and CEO of Community First, added, "30 Over 30 signifies our acknowledgment of organizations and individuals who share our vision for improved community health. Our goal transcends providing health insurance; we aim to foster a culture of caregiving that ensures the well-being of everyone involved."

The initiative is crafted to bear resemblance to Forbes' celebrated "30 Under 30" list, yet it shines a spotlight on celebrated individuals and organizations well-established in their fields.
