Celebrating 30 Years of Tōmyō: Exciting Dance Campaign Launches

Murakami Farm, headquartered in Hiroshima, proudly announces the upcoming 30th anniversary of its popular sprout vegetable, Tōmyō (pea shoots), set to take place in December 2025. To mark this milestone, the company will launch a vibrant Tōmyō Dance Campaign starting from October 30, also celebrated as Tōmyō Day. This special event introduces a new official character, the Tōmyō fairy named Tōmyon, who will also be making her social media debut on Instagram.

A Journey Through Time

Originally known as an exquisite ingredient from China, Tōmyō began its journey in Japan when Murakami Farm began its production in December 1995. Utilizing hydroponic farming in plant factories, the company transformed Tōmyō into a more accessible vegetable option for Japanese households. Initially unfamiliar on Japanese tables, Tōmyō quickly gained popularity for its versatility, nutritional value, affordability, and the ability to be regrown following harvest. As a result, the product has captured the hearts of many, allowing it to achieve a remarkable 30-year milestone.

Introducing Tōmyon

As part of the 30th-anniversary celebrations, the farm will unveil Tōmyon as its mascot. This lively fairy embodies the spirit of Tōmyō, characterized by her special traits; she grows back no matter how many times she’s cut! Tōmyon is not just a brand ambassador but a joyful representation of what Tōmyō signifies.

An Instagram account will be launched for Tōmyon, where followers can enjoy fun content that showcases the delightful aspects of Tōmyō. Additionally, a dance video featuring Tōmyon, along with a boy named Haru and a teacher, will be released. This dance routine is set to an original song used in the TV commercials for Tōmyō. Catchy and easy-to-follow, the moves are designed for children to mimic, making the dance accessible and enjoyable for all ages.

The Tōmyō Dance Campaign

The Tōmyō Dance Campaign will run from October 30 to December 31, 2025. Participants are encouraged to engage in this fun activity by following a few simple steps:

1. Follow Tōmyon’s Instagram account.
2. Watch the dance video and learn the Tōmyō dance.
3. Film yourself performing the dance.
4. Post your video on Instagram with the hashtag #TōmyōDanceChallenge.

As a reward, 500 lucky participants will win a stylish Nikumaki Belly Wrap, a playful item modeled after the popular Tōmyō recipe, Nikumaki Tōmyō. Additionally, there will be a chance to win a Zojirushi Oven Range for five contestants. Everyone is encouraged to join in the fun as they dance and celebrate the joys of Tōmyō!

Special Features of Tōmyō

Tōmyō has gained recognition not only for its delightful mild bean flavor and crisp texture but also for its outstanding nutritional profile. Rich in protein, vitamin B, beta-carotene, and vitamin C, it stands out as a well-balanced green vegetable. Since being produced in plant factories, Tōmyō is available year-round at stable prices, making it a perfect go-to ingredient for budget-conscious shoppers. Its growing popularity has also led to the emergence of reborn vegetables, known as Ribovegi, which allow for regeneration after harvest.
