Seal Shield's Strategic Acquisition of Vioguard Enhances UV-C Sanitization in Healthcare

Seal Shield Expands Its Portfolio with Vioguard Acquisition

Seal Shield LLC, known globally for its medical-grade hygienic devices, has made a significant leap in its sanitization solutions by acquiring Vioguard, a company based in Washington State that specializes in UV-C keyboard sanitization systems and device cleaning technologies. This acquisition is a strategic move to bolster Seal Shield's already impressive range of healthcare solutions, particularly those aimed at combating healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

Founded in 2008 by a former group of Microsoft employees, Vioguard first emerged as a pioneer in the ultraviolet (UV) light technology space, focusing on eliminating bacteria present on keyboards. The company gained traction with its FDA approved UV sanitization system for keyboards, which significantly contributes to infection control in medical environments. The synergy between Vioguard's groundbreaking technology and Seal Shield's existing UV product lineup positions both companies to deliver superior hygiene solutions to their clients.

Brad Whitchurch, the CEO of Seal Shield, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, "We are excited to welcome Vioguard to the Seal Shield family. Vioguard has been a pioneer in developing UV-C technologies specifically designed to address contamination risks from shared workstations and devices. By combining their innovations with Seal Shield's expertise in hygienic device design, we are expanding our ability to provide organizations with advanced hygienic solutions that help create cleaner environments."

The effectiveness of Vioguard's sanitization technology has been affirmed by independent research conducted by Dr. Curtis Donskey and his team at Case Western Reserve University, as well as the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. Their evaluation found that Vioguard’s automated sanitization solutions can help reduce the transmission of various pathogens, including Ebola, influenza strains, C. difficile, and other harmful viruses and bacteria found on shared keyboards within healthcare settings.

The acquisition is set to boost Seal Shield’s product offerings, allowing healthcare facilities to benefit from integrated solutions tailored for safer shared usage across various devices. Vioguard's technology fits seamlessly into Seal Shield's existing range of UV products and aligns with its commitment to advancing hygienic solutions in both healthcare and high-demand environments.

Moreover, Vioguard's extensive intellectual property further enriches Seal Shield's patent portfolio, providing opportunities for future product developments that meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers.

The new UV sanitization system from Vioguard will take center stage at the upcoming HiMSS26 tradeshow, scheduled from March 10-12 in Las Vegas, NV. Attendees can find Vioguard showcased at Seal Shield's booth (#4544), where they can witness demonstrations alongside existing Seal Shield products, including the ElectroClave UV clinical device management system and the CleanSlate UV rapid sanitization solution.

This acquisition signifies a crucial step in enhancing infection control measures in healthcare environments, ensuring that both patients and healthcare workers have access to technologies that promote health and safety by minimizing the risk of infection. Seal Shield's latest developments highlight its ongoing commitment to innovation in the sanitization space, paving the way for healthier and more hygienic environments in healthcare settings.
