In a significant move for women's business advocacy, Big Red M has acquired ABWA Management, LLC, which oversees the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). This partnership marks a transformative period for ABWA, allowing for enhanced growth, improved member experiences, and a solid framework for long-term sustainability.

Leadership Transition

Elizabeth H. Johnson, CAE, takes the helm as the new Executive Director of ABWA, entering the role with over two decades of experience in association management, with a notable focus on membership growth and strategic development. Her expertise positions her well to lead ABWA through this exciting new chapter.

René Street, the outgoing Executive Director, states, "The collaboration between ABWA Management and Big Red M signifies a crucial turning point for our organization's future. We required a team equipped with deep knowledge in promoting association growth and revenue, and Big Red M is undoubtedly the right match to foster ABWA's success."

Johnson echoed this sentiment, expressing enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie ahead. She stated, "ABWA is a formidable advocate for women in business, and I am thrilled to guide the organization into its next era. With Big Red M's strategic insights, we will enhance ABWA’s reach, improve programs, and fortify our community, enabling even greater opportunities for all members."

A Legacy of Support

For more than 75 years, ABWA has been at the forefront of providing leadership, networking, and development opportunities for women across various sectors. This new partnership with Big Red M promises to build on that legacy by introducing innovative initiatives and expanding chapter development. Furthermore, it aims to enhance the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund, which has already awarded over $17 million in scholarships to women pursuing higher education.

Members of ABWA can expect to hear more from Elizabeth H. Johnson during the upcoming ABWA Spring Virtual Conference scheduled for March 21-22, 2025. Here, she will share her vision for the organization’s future, aiming to connect deeply with current and prospective members.
