Chubb Appoints Scott Henck as Global Chief Actuary
Chubb Limited, a leading global insurance provider, has made a significant announcement regarding the leadership of its actuarial division. Scott Henck, who has served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary for North America, has been appointed as the Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary of the Chubb Group. This promotion comes as Paul O'Connell, the current actuary with a remarkable 40-year career in the property and casualty insurance industry, prepares to retire.
Effective April 1, Henck will take the reins from O'Connell, who has been recognized for his outstanding contributions and professionalism throughout his career. Evan G. Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of Chubb Limited, expressed gratitude for O'Connell’s steadfast leadership and wished him well in his retirement. His departure marks the end of an era for Chubb, which aims to continue its legacy under Henck’s leadership.
In his new role, Henck will oversee crucial actuarial responsibilities such as reserving, pricing, and measuring capital performance across Chubb's operations. Greenberg emphasized that Henck’s extensive experience and leadership will ensure the company maintains its reputation for rigorous risk management and excellence.
Scott Henck brings nearly 30 years of insurance experience to his new role. He joined Chubb in 2002 and has excelled in various leadership positions, most recently as Chief Actuary for North America. His previous initiatives include establishing and leading the Actuarial Insights and Business Intelligence division for Global Claims. Recognized as a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Henck is well-equipped to drive Chubb's global actuarial functions forward.
With Henck’s elevation, Cynthia Bentley has been appointed as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary for North America. Bentley, who holds over three decades of insurance and actuarial expertise, has been instrumental in leading actuarial support for major accounts and specialty lines. Her promotion reflects her commendable track record and the significant influence she has imparted on the company’s operations.
Cynthia will directly report to Henck and Juan Luis Ortega, another prominent figure in Chubb's North America Insurance sector. Ortega noted that Bentley's leadership would further enhance Chubb's actuarial capabilities and foster innovation within the company.
