Agiloft Welcomes Jason Barnwell as Chief Product Officer

Agiloft, the leading name in data-first contract lifecycle management (CLM), has announced the appointment of Jason Barnwell as its Chief Product Officer. This strategic move aims to leverage Barnwell's unique integration of legal expertise, engineering acumen, and extensive experience in enterprise contracting to enhance the company's AI-driven product offerings.

Barnwell earned his degree in mechanical engineering from MIT and later obtained a law degree from USC. His career commenced as a software engineer, leading to a significant role at Microsoft, where over 15 years, he played a pivotal part in managing legal operations tied to an intricate global procurement system valued in the billions. This unique background positions Barnwell to have an exceptional understanding of both the technical necessities and the nuanced requirements of the legal landscape.

In his latest position at Microsoft, Barnwell served as General Manager and Associate General Counsel for Monetization and Business Planning. In a strategic shift, Agiloft will not be appointing a successor to the CLO role, highlighting Barnwell's multifaceted influence within the company.

Barnwell emphasized the critical role contracts play in commercial relationships, stating, "The organizations capable of managing contracts intelligently with clean, structured data clearly hold a competitive edge in today’s market." With his engineering background and rich history in legal operations, Barnwell aims to address the existing gaps between legal technology’s promises and practitioners' real-world needs.

He identified the potential of Agiloft Astra, the company’s AI-powered contract intelligence platform. This innovative platform is engineered to enhance the searchability and analyzability of contract data across a variety of functions, from legal to procurement and finance. The goal is to deliver actionable insights that address the needs Barnwell comprehensively understands from both a practitioner and an operational standpoint.
