CHRIS is dedicated to fostering collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and industry experts to devise actionable, data-driven solutions tackling a spectrum of housing issues. Susan Daggett, the executive director of DU's Rocky Mountain Land Use Institute at the Sturm College of Law, emphasizes that "sustainable housing solutions are best achieved when we work together with our partners across the region." The Center is poised to fulfill this mission by delivering rigorous, locally relevant research that drives effective policy-making tailored to community needs.
The Center's activities will focus on three primary areas: research and policy evaluation, market analytics and data sharing, as well as education and leadership development aimed at current and future housing professionals. This initiative builds upon DU's recent impactful research, which highlighted how the elimination of unnecessary parking mandates could potentially usher in the construction of up to 450 additional homes annually under the right economic conditions, all while lowering overall development costs.
