OneOncology and New York Oncology Hematology Collaborate to Improve Cancer Treatment in Albany
Boosting Cancer Care in Albany: A New Partnership
In a significant move to enhance cancer treatment in New York's Capital Region, OneOncology, a physician-led national entity dedicated to supporting independent oncology practices, has finalized a partnership with New York Oncology and Hematology (NYOH). This collaboration aims to elevate cancer care services offered to patients across Albany and surrounding areas.
NYOH has a rich history, originating over 30 years ago as the first cancer care provider in the region outside of hospital settings. With a robust team of 35 physicians, NYOH operates seven clinics located in Albany, Amsterdam, Clifton Park, Hudson, and Troy. The practice provides comprehensive services throughout the cancer care continuum, offering treatments such as radiation oncology, surgical procedures, and infusion therapies, along with specialized services including gynecological and neurological oncology.
What sets NYOH apart is its commitment to innovative care delivery. The practice boasts an active research program that allows its patients access to clinical trials close to home, significantly improving convenience and care options for those battling cancer. This dedication to patient-centered care will be further amplified by the partnership with OneOncology, as Dr. Jeff Patton, CEO of OneOncology, highlights the trust that NYOH has built within the community.
"The physicians at New York Oncology and Hematology are recognized as the most trusted names in the Albany area for cancer care. We are excited to welcome them onto our platform, which will allow their practice to expand and enhance the services they offer, ensuring that world-class care remains accessible to the communities they serve," said Dr. Patton.
The collaboration is set to take effect in July 2025, allowing NYOH to keep its independence while gaining invaluable access to a wide range of clinical, operational, and technological resources. Such resources are designed to bolster the quality of physician-led cancer care, providing NYOH’s oncologists and hematologists with the tools, real-time insights, and collaborative opportunities needed to adapt to challenges faced in practice today.
NYOH's President, Dr. Todd Doyle, expressed excitement about this partnership, emphasizing the institution's long-standing tradition of delivering high-quality cancer care. He stated that the alliance will not only bring capital and expertise but also proven solutions that will help meet the evolving needs of their patients and their families effectively.
The addition of NYOH marks OneOncology’s 27th practice since its establishment in 2018, showcasing the rapid growth of this platform across the nation. NYOH is distinguished within the region for its extensive clinical research operations, offering the largest community oncology clinical trials and drug programs. Moreover, it is home to the region's only community-based services for stem cell transplants, neoplastic care, CAR-T cell therapy, and Bispecific Antibody therapies—further illustrating its commitment to cutting-edge treatment options.
Founded by oncologists with the vision of improving cancer care accessibility, OneOncology's mission is clear: to enable independent oncology practices to flourish while providing effective, lower-cost treatment options compared to hospital settings. Supporting over 1,300 cancer care providers who attend to approximately 747,000 patients across more than 420 locations nationwide, OneOncology is reshaping the landscape of oncology practice.
As this promising partnership unfolds, both organizations share a strong commitment to ensuring that communities in Albany and beyond receive enhanced cancer care, thereby improving the quality of life for patients facing this difficult journey.
