Family Stargazing at SHIBUYA SKY
On March 26th and 27th, 2026, a fascinating experience awaits families at SHIBUYA SKY in Shibuya, Tokyo. Organized in collaboration with Vixen Co., a leading optical equipment manufacturer based in Saitama, this unique stargazing event promises to be an enlightening journey into the cosmos.
The theme of this year’s event is "Astronomy Class Above Shibuya," making it a perfect opportunity for parents and children to bond through learning and exploration. The event is designed for adult-child pairs, ensuring that families can explore the wonders of the universe together. Participants will engage in educational activities, allowing them to appreciate the beauty of the night sky.
What to Expect
The evening starts off with an engaging classroom session called "Learning About the Moon." Here, families will delve into various topics, including lunar exploration and potential space travel. The aim is to make learning fun and interactive, laying the foundation for an unforgettable stargazing experience.
After the informative session, families will participate in a craft workshop where each pair will decorate and create their own binoculars. Not only is this an exciting activity, but families will also get to take their customized binoculars home, allowing them to continue their lunar observations from the comfort of their backyard.
The highlight event will take place on the SKY STAGE, where families will use the binoculars they made, along with Vixen's high-quality telescopes, to observe the moon. On the night of March 26th, participants will witness the first quarter moon—a great opportunity to spot craters and mountain ranges through the binoculars. This hands-on approach allows families to connect what they learned during the classroom session with the real observations of the moon’s surface. Additionally, they may have the chance to observe other celestial objects, such as Jupiter and the Pleiades star cluster.
