Enhance Your Skills with SIM3 Auditor Training
The NCA (Japan Cyber Security Center) has officially announced the upcoming 'SIM3 Auditor Training' scheduled for September 2-4, 2026, in Tokyo. This program aims to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge to become certified auditors in the SIM3 framework, a vital resource for assessing Cyber Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs).
What is SIM3?
SIM3, or Cyber Security Incident Maturity Model, offers a structured method for evaluating and improving CSIRT capabilities. By attaining certification through this training, participants will not only be able to conduct audits but will also gain recognition from the Open CSIRT Foundation (OCF) as official SIM3 auditors. This designation is crucial as it will enable them to perform audits and facilitate certification assessments for various CSIRT teams. Although Japan currently has plans for a certification system, it has yet to be implemented, making this training particularly relevant.
Who Should Attend?
This training is highly recommended for individuals involved in CSIRT operations, security-related roles, or anyone interested in incident management. It offers an excellent opportunity to learn about best practices in incident response management. Those already in leadership or managerial roles within CSIRT should consider attending to further enhance their abilities and conduct their operations more effectively. The program invites interested candidates to register, as available slots are limited.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the training, we suggest that participants possess at least three years of experience in CSIRT operations and a sound understanding of incident management principles. Candidates are required to submit their work history before the course. The eligibility of each applicant will be assessed based on this information by the certified SIM3 trainer from OCF.
CPE Points
Participants will also have the chance to earn Continued Professional Education (CPE) credits upon completion of the training. ISC2 certification holders can apply for these credits relevant to their domain through the member portal.
