Kase and WSI Expand Fulfillment Capabilities in Texas
Kase, a prominent player in logistics and fulfillment, has recently partnered with WSI (Warehouse Specialists, LLC) to open an expansive 182,000-square-foot fulfillment center located east of Dallas in Sunnyvale, Texas. This cutting-edge facility is designed to cater not only to the increasing demands of omnichannel operations but also to enhance traditional distribution methods.
Meeting Rising Demands
The establishment of this new center comes at a crucial time when customer expectations are skyrocketing in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area. As WSI has a long-standing presence in the region with its rail-served facility on Jupiter Road, reaching its capacity prompted the need for this new, purpose-built space. According to Mike Venditti, Vice President of Fulfillment at WSI | Kase, the Sunnyvale location has allowed them to implement a fulfillment-centric layout right from the start. This strategic move aims to streamline workflows, utilize advanced technology for real-time visibility, and effectively meet the diverse needs of both entrenched and emerging brand clients.
A Facility Designed for Flexibility
The 182,369-square-foot building stands out with 36-foot clear heights and extensive loading capabilities, including 26 truck doors and 39 trailer parking spots. This design provides the scalability necessary to manage not only seasonal demands but also unexpected spikes in orders. WSI's engineering team optimized the racking design within the facility to enhance throughput while reducing travel paths, leading to swifter and more accurate order fulfillment.
What’s more, the facility supports various storage environments, including ambient, temperature-controlled, and food-grade spaces, making it a versatile option for businesses spanning multiple industries, including food and beverage, apparel, consumer products, chemicals, electronics, and paper.
Strategic Connectivity and Distribution Costs
Positioned just 11 miles from WSI’s other facility, this new center boasts excellent access to major highways such as I-20, I-30, I-635, US-80, and I-45. Such strategic placement helps maintain cost-effective distribution both regionally and nationally. Additionally, it's located near vital transloading terminals, linking customers efficiently to rail and parcel networks. This infrastructure is bolstered by Kase's cloud-based Warehouse Management System (WMS), which incorporates technologies like RF scanning and app-enabled visibility tools that enhance integration and provide real-time inventory oversight.
Commitment to Sustainability
In alignment with WSI’s corporate social responsibility standards, the fulfillment center utilizes post-recycled packaging materials, underscoring a commitment to sustainability. The facility also offers various value-added services, such as kitting, labeling, and custom packaging. This ensures that clients can collaborate with confidence, knowing their operations are optimized for continued efficiency and flexibility.
Peter David, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at WSI | Kase, notes, “This expansion solidifies our national presence by delineating traditional logistical operations from fulfillment-focused ones, thereby increasing capacity for our rail-served clientele. It truly represents the best of both worlds for our customers.”
Immediate Availability and Future Prospects
As of now, multiple clients are already commencing operations in Sunnyvale, and there are still opportunities for additional brands seeking an experienced partner in omnichannel fulfillment and logistics.
