Shanghai Electric Showcases Advanced AI Integration at Hannover Messe 2026
Event Overview
From April 24-28, 2026, Shanghai Electric, a leader in energy and industrial solutions, showcased its innovations at the Hannover Messe 2026. The theme was "Connecting Energy and Industry," where the company demonstrated a variety of products focused on green energy, integrated energy solutions, and applications utilizing artificial intelligence (AI).
Exploring New Opportunities
In light of Europe's energy transformation and increasing interest in AI integration within manufacturing sectors, Shanghai Electric aims to explore deeper collaborations. The company's exhibit featured four distinct zones: "AI for Industry," "Decarbonized Parks," "Energy-to-X," and "Digital Foundation of the Industrial Internet of Things." These zones highlighted Shanghai Electric's comprehensive approach in facilitating synergistic development across the supply chain in energy and industrial sectors.
AI for Industry
In the "AI for Industry" section, Shanghai Electric unveiled its "Intelligent Manufacturing StarCloud" range, boasting nearly 40 AI models and intelligent agents. These cover three primary manufacturing scenarios: research, development, and design; production and manufacturing; plus operation and maintenance. The goal is to foster intelligent modernization in the manufacturing industry. Among showcased innovations is the "Mobile Factory," which integrates AI and digital twin technology for remote maintenance and intelligent scheduling. This system has already been used for maintenance and emergency repairs on several international projects, notably in South Korea, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.
Additionally, the industry's Internet platform supports digital transformation across 13 sectors, already connecting over 460,000 devices globally.
Introducing Su-jüan
Attendees also encountered the two-legged humanoid robot named "Su-jüan," designed by Shanghai Electric. Equipped with high-performance joints and intelligent control systems, Su-jüan is engineered to operate in complex industrial settings, embodying the future direction of traditional industrial production.
Green Energy Revolution
In alignment with their "Energy + Industry" strategy, Shanghai Electric is developing replicable solutions for decarbonized parks. They offer comprehensive, customized services ranging from initial planning to operational management, integrating their products which address over half of the essential equipment needs, including wind and solar power systems, energy storage technologies, hydrogen solutions, microgrids, and diverse energy interconnection systems.
Within the "Decarbonized Parks" zone, Shanghai Electric showcased its leadership in green technologies pertinent to wind and solar energy, along with their energy accumulation capacities.
Wind Power
Shanghai Electric supplies operational and maintenance services for wind farms globally, featuring its 25 MW offshore turbine, including significant projects like the Senj Wind Farm in Croatia - one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe.
Solar Technology
Utilizing cutting-edge HJT photovoltaic technology, the company delivered comprehensive solar thermal solutions within the industry, such as integrated energy cabins designed for energy production coupled with storage solutions.
Energy Storage Solutions
The firm's vanadium redox battery systems, employing water-based electrolytes, are becoming preferred solutions for large-scale, long-term energy storage needs.
A New Era of Green Hydrogen and Fuels
Leveraging its robust capabilities in new energy sectors, smart grids, and green chemistry, Shanghai Electric has established critical technologies and solutions spanning the entire green fuel value chain. They provide fully tailored complex solutions for three principal green fuels: green methanol, green ammonia, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) designed to meet varying market demands.
An example includes the Tchao-nan project in Jilin, noted as China's first green methanol demonstration project, which received EU ISCC certification for its processes. In March 2026, the inaugural batch of green methanol products was loaded onto the CMA CGM vessel
