VARTA's New Lithium-Ion Batteries Revolutionize Leisure Activities with Reliable Power Solutions

In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in active leisure activities across Europe. Whether it’s a motorhome that affords travelers the freedom to venture where they please, or personal boats that allow individuals to embrace the tranquility of the sea, reliable energy sources are paramount. Enter VARTA, a leader in battery technology from Clarios, which has launched a new range of lithium-ion batteries specifically tailored for leisure applications.

Overview of VARTA's Lithium-Ion Battery Range

These innovative batteries are ideal for battery-powered applications, especially in off-grid scenarios such as traveling in motorhomes or enjoying weekends aboard boats. VARTA's latest offerings come in six variants ranging from 50 Ah to 200 Ah and are available in four different sizes. One of the significant advantages of these lithium-ion batteries is their ability to provide more usable energy and a longer life cycle while being lighter and more compact than traditional lead-acid batteries.

When compared to an AGM lead-acid battery of the same size, users can experience a considerable reduction in weight—around 55% less. This dramatic decrease not only makes installation easier but also enhances the overall maneuverability of the vehicles in which these batteries are used.

Fast Charging and High Usability

One of VARTA’s major selling points is the fast recharge capability of these lithium-ion batteries, which can fully charge in just two to three hours, giving twice the usable capacity compared to conventional models. This is made possible due to a depth of discharge (DoD) of 80%, allowing up to 80% of the battery's nominal capacity to be utilized effectively during operation.

Smart Technology Integration

In addition to their impressive specifications, VARTA's lithium-ion batteries are equipped with smart technology features for better energy management. Each unit can connect via Bluetooth to a mobile application that tracks battery state and performance metrics. Users can monitor charging levels, overall health, cycle counts, internal temperatures, current flow, and receive battery management alerts directly from their smartphones.

The 100 Ah and 150 Ah models also come with an onboard CI-BUS management system connection, integrating seamlessly with existing energy management systems in caravan vehicles.

Designed for Diverse Conditions

For outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy camping or boating year-round, these lithium-ion batteries are designed to withstand adverse conditions. The 100 Ah and 150 Ah models include a heating feature to ensure functionality during winter camping or marine applications. All six variants perform reliably in damp environments, and except for the 50 Ah model, they boast an IP67 protection rating, making them resistant to dust, dirt, and even water jets. Remarkably, they can endure temporary immersion in water up to a meter deep for 30 minutes without compromising performance.

Models equipped with special low-temperature technology further extend usability, allowing for effective charging even in frigid conditions.
