Countdown to FITUR 2025: The Premier Global Tourism Event in Madrid
The international tourism fair,
FITUR 2025, is just around the corner, organized by
IFEMA MADRID. From
January 22 to 26, the event will convene a global audience of tourism professionals, marking its
45th edition. This year, FITUR aims to highlight the remarkable achievements of the tourism sector in 2024 and share optimistic prospects for 2025.
An Overview of FITUR 2025
With participation from over
9,500 companies across
156 countries, the fair anticipates hosting approximately
150,000 professional visitors during the weekdays and around
100,000 general public attendees over the weekend. This tremendous influx is expected to contribute an estimated
445 million euros to Madrid's economy, benefiting various sectors such as mobility, hospitality, culture, and leisure.
FITUR re-establishes itself as the leading global event in the tourism sector, emphasizing its role as the number one venue by participant volume. The fair has experienced a
10% overall increase in direct exhibitors, with a notable
19% rise in international representation. Additionally, the roster of countries represented has expanded to include five new entries from Africa and Asia.
Innovations and Sustainability
One of the highlights of FITUR 2025 is the
Travel Technology area, which has grown by
6% and will showcase over 100 companies demonstrating the latest in tourism technology and booking management systems. Notably,
Brazil will join as the
Partner Country, aiming to present its diverse tourism offerings and boost its global positioning.
Data from Brazil's Ministry of Tourism indicates that 2024 was a record-setting year, attracting
6.6 million international tourists—an increase of
12.6% from the previous year. This reflects a strong recovery and growth trajectory in the global tourism landscape.
The Future of Tourism: Business, Knowledge, and Sustainability
FITUR 2025 will introduce renewed sections that focus on sustainability and business, connecting the tourism industry with other sectors to create new traveler niches.
FITUR Cruises will highlight the cruise sector's commitment to sustainable practices, while
FITUR LGBT+ will emphasize diversity and inclusion, showcasing tourism’s accessible inclusivity.
Other focused segments include
FITUR Lingua, addressing language tourism opportunities,
FITUR Screen linking the film industry with tourism, and
FITUR Sports, promoting responsible sports tourism.
FITUR Techy, in collaboration with the ITH, will explore the impact of AI on travel management, while
FITUR Talent will specifically focus on challenges related to talent and training in the tourism sector.
FITUR Woman, developed with
Women Leading Tourism, aims to promote female leadership within the industry.
Furthermore,
FITUR 4all, a new initiative created in partnership with
IMPULSA IGUALDAD, seeks to enhance accessible tourism and will recognize exemplary initiatives through the
FITUR 4all Awards.
The
Sustainability Observatory,
FITURNEXT, will investigate how tourism can sustainably contribute to food management and ecological responsibility. The event not only serves as a marketing platform but also as a catalyst for innovation and collaboration among industry stakeholders.
