BronzeLens Film Festival Honors Valerie Pettiford and Trailblazers in the Industry for 2025 Season

Celebrating Icons at BronzeLens 2025

The BronzeLens Film Festival is gearing up for an exhilarating season with its 2025 Women SuperStars Honors, scheduled for March 1, 2025, at the historic Rialto Center for the Arts in Atlanta. This prestigious ceremony will recognize the remarkable contributions of three influential women in the entertainment industry: Valerie Pettiford, Egypt Sherrod, and Myeshia Mizuno. Each honoree will be presented with one of the festival's esteemed awards — the Legendary, Vanguard, and Behind the Lens awards, respectively.

Honoring the Legends

Valerie Pettiford, a seasoned actress with a career spanning nearly five decades, will be bestowed the Legendary Women SuperStar award. Known for her dynamic capability as a dancer, actress, and singer, Pettiford has made her mark on both stage and screen. She has received multiple NAACP Image Awards and nominations for both Tony and Grammy Awards, showcasing her immense talent. Currently, she captivates audiences as Chippy Duncan on BET's The Family Business, a role she has played for six seasons, and has recently joined the cast of The Young and The Restless as Amy Lewis.

A Vanguard of Real Estate

Egypt Sherrod will receive the Vanguard Women SuperStar award. A multi-talented powerhouse, Sherrod’s achievements extend across various sectors, including real estate, design, entrepreneurship, and media. She gained prominence as the host and executive producer of HGTV's hit show Married to Real Estate, which captured a staggering 19 million viewers during its debut season. The show, now in its fourth season, remains a top contender on HGTV, airing in over 82 countries worldwide.

A Visionary Producer

The Behind the Lens award will honor Myeshia Mizuno, a trailblazing producer and executive, renowned for her creative vision and leadership. As the executive producer and showrunner of the iconic Family Feud, she has made history as the first Black female showrunner of a primetime network game show with Celebrity Family Feud. Mizuno’s impressive portfolio further includes her work on Judge Steve Harvey, solidifying her position as a leading figure in television production.

An Inspiring Event

A special highlight of the ceremony will be the 'In Conversation' segment featuring the 2025 honorees, sparking discussions on their remarkable journeys and insights as women of color in leadership roles. The discussion will be moderated by animator and filmmaker Ayo K. Chenzira, a 2018 BronzeLens Women SuperStar. The event will be hosted by Portia Bruner from the lifestyle show Portia, and violinist Carey Durham will add a melodic touch to the celebration.

Supporting Future Generations

The BronzeLens Women SuperStars Honors serve not only as a celebration of accomplishments but also function as a critical fundraising event for the BronzeLens Creators Scholarship. This year, two $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to deserving students from participating HBCUs, announced in late May, thus encouraging and supporting the next generation of talent.

As the BronzeLens Film Festival continues to uplift and empower women making strides in the entertainment industry, this year's honors reaffirm the festival's commitment to celebrating diversity and inspiring future innovators and changemakers.
