Arclin and BSST Launch Innovative EOD Suit Featuring Kevlar® EXO™ Technology

Arclin and BSST Unveil the Next-Generation EOD Suit with Kevlar® EXO™ Technology

Arclin, a leading player in material science, has partnered with BSST, a specialist in bomb disposal suits, to introduce a groundbreaking Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) suit that employs Kevlar® EXO™ technology. This state-of-the-art suit is designed to enhance safety and operational capabilities in explosive disarmament scenarios, especially in high-risk environments.

The newly unveiled EOD suit features a lightweight design that incorporates advanced protection against explosive fragments without compromising mobility. Weighing approximately 30 kg (66 lbs), this suit is about 15% lighter than conventional EOD suits, which often exceed 35 kg (77 lbs). The reduced weight not only improves the comfort of the operator but also enhances maneuverability during lengthy missions, all while maintaining a high level of defense necessary for confronting explosive threats.

Steven LaGanke, Arclin’s global defense segment leader, emphasized the critical nature of decision-making in bomb disposal operations, where even a kilogram of extra weight can impact performance significantly. He stated, "Our collaboration with BSST showcases how materials science innovation contributes to developing lighter, more agile personal protection solutions tailored to the evolving demands of today's security professionals. Kevlar® EXO™ CoreMatrix™ was designed to surpass the limits of fragment resistance, and we are thrilled to see how it aids in shaping the next generation of explosive ordnance disposal protection."

In selecting Kevlar® EXO™, BSST aimed to explore advanced materials that offer superior performance characteristics for modern EOD operations. The development was spearheaded by BSST's technical team, who leveraged their extensive expertise in bomb suit engineering and protective technologies.

Heiko Baumann, BSST's Director of Technology and R&D, remarked, "This launch marks a significant milestone in the evolution of explosive disposal protection. By combining our experience in EOD suit design with the advanced performance capabilities of Kevlar® EXO™, we have created a solution that tackles one of the industry's most persistent challenges: reducing weight while maintaining the protection operators require. We take pride in presenting this innovation to the global defense and security community."

Currently, the EOD suit is available for international deployment and is being introduced in key markets across Europe and Asia. Arclin and BSST will showcase this innovative suit at Eurosatory 2026, taking place from June 15 to 19 at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center in Paris, France. Attendees can visit Arclin's booth (H319) in Hall 5 for more information on Kevlar® EXO™ and the technologies that are set to redefine personal safety.
