Public Meeting for Concho Valley Spaceport Feasibility Study
The Concho Valley Council of Governments (CVCOG) is excited to announce an upcoming public meeting aimed at engaging the local community regarding the feasibility study for a potential spaceport in the Concho Valley. This project, funded by a generous grant from the Texas Space Commission, marks an important milestone in assessing whether this region could be developed for future space-related activities.
Date and Time: Thursday, February 12, 2026, with doors opening at 5:30 PM, followed by the public meeting scheduled from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Location: CV Transit Annex, 506 N. Chadbourne, San Angelo, Texas.
The feasibility study is being conducted by a team spearheaded by RSH, a firm specializing in aerospace infrastructure and planning. Collaborating on this study are recognized experts from various organizations including Centurion Planning & Design, which focuses on local infrastructure, the Aerospace Corporation for safety analysis, Blue Ridge Research and Consulting for acoustic assessments, and SEARCH, Inc. for cultural resource evaluations.
The core purpose of the public meeting is to inform residents about the feasibility study’s objectives and to obtain valuable input from the community. In a structured environment, attendees will learn about the essential roles that modern inland spaceports play, including various non-space activities that frequently occur alongside space operations. The discussions will also center on how the Concho Valley could become a center for testing, research, launching, and other related activities.
During the meeting, participants will have the opportunity to engage with the project team through a brief presentation, staffed information stations, and one-on-one discussions. Interactive tools will also be available to collect public feedback effectively.
Key Focus:
The study is designed to ascertain the feasibility and appropriateness of establishing a spaceport in the Concho Valley. Importantly, it does not make any assumptions about building a spaceport but instead aims to explore the region’s potential and readiness for such an endeavor.
All residents of the Concho Valley are encouraged to attend, as their insights and opinions are invaluable in shaping the future of this project. Additionally, for those unable to participate in person, a virtual attendance option is available via Zoom. Here are the details to join remotely:
