Winland Foods Launches Community Food Relief Initiative in Washington, D.C.
In a commendable move to support the local community, Winland Foods, a well-known North American manufacturer of both private label and branded foods, has stepped up its efforts to provide aid amid the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. This initiative involved a generous donation of 20,000 pounds of their popular San Giorgio® and Mueller's® branded pasta to federal employees significantly impacted by the ongoing crisis.
Background on the Initiative
On November 7 and November 8, Winland Foods organized two distribution events at the United Community and the LindaBen Foundation locations in the heart of Washington, D.C. Over 1,000 individuals participated in these events, coming to collect the free pasta products that they so desperately needed during these challenging times. The overwhelming response saw more than 500 cars lined up early for the chance to receive this much-needed sustenance. Notably, the entire 20,000-pound donation was successfully distributed between the two days.
This food relief effort reflects Winland’s long-standing commitment to the communities they serve. CEO Eric Beringause emphasized, "This effort to nourish the families of federal employees in the D.C. area underscores Winland's commitment to the communities of its customers and suppliers. We believe everyone deserves access to delicious, high-quality and nutritious food."
