Successful Conclusion of KEY – The Energy Transition Expo 2026
The 2026 edition of KEY – The Energy Transition Expo, held at the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy, marked a significant milestone in the field of energy transition. Organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), this key event brings together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to address the urgent challenges and opportunities related to energy transition in Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean basin.
This year, the expo witnessed a notable 10% increase in total attendance, with foreign visitors rising by 9%. The event hosted over 1,000 exhibitors from across the globe, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and solutions in various sectors related to energy transition. This year's expo attracted 530 hosted buyers and delegations from 59 countries, reflecting a robust international collaboration facilitated by the Italian Trade Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). Additionally, 412 journalists covered the event, indicating its high-profile nature.
Spanning an impressive 125,000 square meters across 24 halls, the expo featured a diverse range of innovative products and services that addressed the critical issues arising from the shifting energy landscape. The event offered 160 high-quality scientific conferences, emphasizing topics such as finance, energy efficiency, decarbonization, and the integration of artificial intelligence to enhance power grids.
The Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, inaugurated the event, highlighting the role of international cooperation in tackling the challenges of energy transition. The event also spotlighted technological expertise from both European and non-European industries, fostering partnerships and collaboration efforts, particularly with countries in Africa, as seen in the Africa Investment HUB area.
A new segment called the Innovation District emphasized the need for sustainable jobs, showcasing 32 innovative start-ups and SMEs. The Green JobsSkills initiative facilitated connections between job seekers and employers in the sustainability sector, addressing the urgent need for skilled professionals in the green economy.
In conjunction with KEY, the DPE – International Electricity Expo also took place, focusing on critical areas such as electricity generation, transmission, and safety. This collaborative endeavor highlighted the comprehensive approach to energy solutions and showcased innovations in automation technologies, essential for modern energy systems.
KEY – The Energy Transition Expo has established itself as one of the most pivotal events in Europe concerning energy transition. The conference will return to the Rimini Expo Centre next year from March 10th to 12th, 2027, promising to build on this year's success and continue fostering dialogue and partnerships in the energy sector. Through such collaborations and innovations, the event contributes significantly to the global movement towards a sustainable and efficient energy future.
