The Thrilling Start of the 2026 Mahjong Women’s League Championship
In a remarkable event that brings together the brightest female mahjong players from all over the country, the
2026 Mahjong Women’s League Championship will commence on
June 12, 2026. This exciting tournament, co-hosted by the Mahjong Queen Championship Executive Committee and the Sankei Shimbun, showcases over
200 talented female professionals fighting for the title of mahjong queen over the course of a year.
The league is divided into two primary competitions:
- - Scepter League (Eastern Japan) with 15 groups and 60 teams.
- - Aubrey League (Western Japan) featuring 4 groups with 16 teams.
In addition to the team battles, there will be a
personal competition with
216 individual players eager to claim their own glory.
With a notable prize pool, the team champions will be awarded
300,000 yen, while the individual champions will receive
150,000 yen. These incentives are designed to not only reward skill and strategy but also enhance the sport's prestige in the realm of mind sports.
