Nauticus Robotics Welcomes New General Counsel Michael Ferrier to Its Team
Nauticus Robotics, Inc., known for its innovative solutions in autonomous subsea technologies, has officially appointed Michael Ferrier as its new General Counsel, effective April 7, 2026. This strategic move comes in light of John Symington’s recent departure from the role. As they transition, Symington and Ferrier are collaborating to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities. Ferrier joins Nauticus from Berry Corporation, where he held the position of Assistant General Counsel from 2022 until late March 2026. During his tenure there, he was instrumental in advising on various aspects, including commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and labor-related matters. In addition to his corporate law experience, he has contributed to the nonprofit sector as counsel to Nova Ukraine, providing guidance on governance, regulatory compliance, and international operations. Reflecting on his expansive career, Ferrier's previous experience includes roles such as General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Human Resources Officer at Cenergy International Services between 2016 and 2018. His legal acumen continued to develop through senior positions at Parker Drilling Company, where he worked from 2018 to 2022, notably serving as Deputy General Counsel and Associate General Counsel. Prior to joining Parker, Ferrier held legal positions at Tesco Corporation and Stewart Title Guaranty Company, focusing primarily on international transactions, compliance, and litigation management. Ferrier is licensed to practice law in multiple states, including Texas, New York, Florida, and New Jersey, and holds a Juris Doctor degree from St. John's University School of Law, graduating cum laude. He also received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston College, earned magna cum laude. Nauticus Robotics’ President and CEO, John Gibson, expressed gratitude towards Symington for his prior service while welcoming Ferrier to the team, emphasizing the strength of Nauticus’ legal division with this new appointment. Nauticus Robotics continues to lead in the domain of autonomous oceanic robotics, focusing on utilizing advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, and algorithmic technologies in their products. The company operates on a business model that encompasses robotic systems for service, sales of vehicles and components, and software licensing in both the commercial and defense sectors. Their innovative robots aim to reduce operational costs and aid in the maintenance of subsea infrastructure – making waves in the ocean industries. As Nauticus tests and certifies their new generation of vehicles designed for better operational efficiency, they remain committed to improving safety and environmental impact. The appointment of Michael Ferrier is seen as a significant step in furthering Nauticus Robotics’ capabilities and offerings, as the company aims to revolutionize the underwater robotics landscape.
