Chofu PARCO, located at 1-38-1 Kojima-cho, Chofu City, Tokyo, is excited to announce its upcoming Chofu PARCO Art Festival 2025. The festival aims to create a new platform for cultural dialogue in the region, leveraging the unique characteristics of Chofu PARCO, a popular destination for local residents. Participating Artists, Organizations, and Initiatives
- - TMPR: This creative team, consisting of brothers Iwasawa, Junichiro Horikawa, Aki Miya, and Kazuki Nakada, explores the interaction between the digital and physical realms, high-tech and handmade aesthetics, embodying a playful approach to community research. Since its formation in 2023, this team has engaged in cross-disciplinary collaborations, including 3D designers and planners focusing on both material and human perspectives. The team’s name, “TMPR,” is pronounced as “tempura.”
- - Moving Point Observation Station: From October 28 (Tuesday) to November 4 (Tuesday), this installation will be displayed in the 1F Event Space, featuring workshops such as “Tell Us Chofu's Hidden Charms” on October 18 and an ongoing survey about Chofu from October 21 to November 4.
- - Atelier in the City: Run by Haruko Yamada, this creative space located along the Nogawa River promotes creativity and exploration through hands-on workshops and interaction with nature. Their project, “The Great Illustrated Book of Life,” held a workshop on September 21 where children depicted local flora and fauna, with the resulting artworks being displayed during the festival.
- - Chofu Cultivation Society: This social welfare organization operates a working space for 47 members, focusing on creating a lively, joyful environment. They encourage various activities such as exercising, learning manners, singing, dancing, and more. The artists include Satomi Kiyono, Ikue Hara, Tomoyo Osawa, Ryo Arakawa, Katsuhiko Ishizaka, and Satoko Kawashima.
- - Karella Mara Raffinan: A curator originally from Toronto, now based in Tokyo, Karella brings valuable insights gained from her background as an immigrant. She encourages dialogue among artists, audiences, and communities, focusing on accessibility and intercultural understanding.
- - Yoshimaru Shin Exhibition: Yoshimaru Shin, hailing from Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, showcases his work involving graphic design and illustration from October 21 to November 4.
Music and Cultural Events
- - Latin Jazz Session on October 26, 2025, at 15:00, and a Record Market on the same day from 11:00 to 16:00, will feature Music Camp, Inc., which promotes Chicano music and culture between Chofu and Los Angeles.
Workshops and Community Engagement
The festival will also feature workshops and community activities, helping participants connect with art in various forms – from creating market stalls to engaging in cultural exploration. The
Food Stall School led by Ken Ikemura will feature a debut event on October 25, 2025, showcasing products made by participants. This aligns with the festival’s goal of creating a vibrant interaction space for the community.
