Celebrate Spring with Godzilla and Flower Art at Kurihama Flower Land
At Kurihama Flower Land in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, the spring season is in full bloom with over one million stunning poppies on display. This beautiful flower garden is currently hosting the “Poppy and Nemophila Festival,” which runs until May 25, 2025. Among the highlights is a spectacular flower art installation themed around the iconic Godzilla and Katsushika Hokusai's “Red Fuji” from the Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji series, adding a unique artistic flair to the vibrant red poppy fields.
A Unique Collaboration of Nature and Art
The stunning flower art piece, designed as an homage to both Godzilla and Hokusai’s masterpiece, presents a breathtaking sight. The original creation includes the towering figure of Godzilla illuminated by the bright red poppy flowers and the dramatic silhouette of Mount Fuji painted in vivid red flowers, creating a spectacular visual narrative. This impressive flower art measures 22 meters in width and 14 meters in height, utilizing around 5,000 individual flower pots.
As one gets closer to the installation, the interplay of colors creates a captivating illusion where Godzilla’s dark figure seemingly reflects the vibrant hues of the poppies, resulting in a purplish tint that stands out amid the lush greenery. This masterpiece serves as a perfect backdrop for photos and is a must-see for both art enthusiasts and locals.
