KISTERS Introduces KIPTEC: Revolutionizing Environmental Sensors with Integrated Technology

KISTERS Unveils KIPTEC: A Game Changer in Environmental Monitoring

KISTERS has recently launched KIPTEC, an advanced embedded technology designed to revolutionize traditional environmental sensors into fully integrated, autonomous devices. This new development aims to eliminate the reliance on multiple external components that often complicate the installation and operation of monitoring systems.

Key Features of KIPTEC

The KIPTEC technology introduces a range of functionalities that enhance efficiency and user experience. Here’s a closer look at its standout features:
  • - Immediate Cloud Connectivity: Sensors equipped with KIPTEC can connect to the cloud in under 30 seconds, ensuring real-time data availability.
  • - Integrated Dynamic Logging: Dynamic logging capabilities are built directly into the sensors, enabling seamless data tracking and management.
  • - Direct Data Transmission: Data can be transmitted directly from the sensor to relevant systems without the need for additional devices, streamlining the monitoring process.
  • - Reduced Installation Complexity: KIPTEC reduces the number of necessary components by integrating functions into a single device, requiring only a power connection for setup.
  • - Energy Savings: The technology can decrease energy consumption by up to 75%, addressing concerns over environmental impact and operational costs.

These features address a significant demand in the market for simpler, efficient, and less cumbersome solutions in environmental monitoring. Anton Felder, Director of KISTERS HydroMet, stated, “93% of monitoring professionals reported issues with installations involving multiple devices. The complexity itself became a barrier. KIPTEC removes that barrier by integrating connectivity, logging, and processing directly within the sensor.”

Technical Specifications

The KIPTEC-enabled sensors, made in Germany, offer over 12 months of onboard data storage along with event-based transmission and store-and-forward protection to prevent data loss. They can automatically adjust their power consumption based on environmental conditions. Furthermore, the platform supports LTE-Cat-M1/NB-IoT connectivity and allows for over-the-air updates through KISTERS Telemetry, integrating easily with existing systems using protocols such as MQTT, HTTPS, and SFTP.

Security is paramount in KIPTEC’s design, featuring end-to-end encryption and TLS-certified IoT protection that adhere to European standards, ensuring data integrity and privacy.

Competitive Edge

KIPTEC-enabled sensors, referred to as 'Edge' sensors, provide a competitive advantage in monitoring scenarios requiring autonomous operations, particularly in remote or densely located networks. Klaas Schulze Dieckhoff, KISTERS Global Head of RD, elaborates, “These sensors are designed for rapid deployment in challenging environments while maintaining operational reliability.”

The Classic portfolio will still be supported for traditional infrastructure systems requiring central logging, thereby offering flexibility and choice to users.

Looking Ahead

Mark your calendars for the launch of the HyQuant Edge in Q1 2026, which will be the first water radar utilizing KIPTEC technology.
