Discover the Art of Kabuki at the National Theater
On January 10, the National Theater will host an observation event for aspiring Kabuki actors interested in training. This event presents a unique opportunity for attendees to learn more about the mesmerizing world of Kabuki. Participants currently considering applying for the actor training program as well as those interested in future applications are warmly invited.

- - Date and Time: January 10, 2025, starting at 12:00 PM (Doors open at 11:30 AM)
- - Location: National Olympic Memorial Youth Center, Culture Building, 4th floor, Room 42,
3-1 Yoyogi Kamizono-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
The event includes:
1. A 45-minute observation of the Kabuki actor training segment focused on "tachimawari" (stage combat).
2. An overview and Q&A session about the training system.
3. Individual consultations for those interested.
To participate, please register in advance through the designated online form or by phone. When registering by phone, state your interest in attending the "Kabuki Actor Training Observation Event" and provide:

Open Call for Trainees
The National Theater is currently seeking trainees to nurture future transmitters of traditional performing arts. The following programs are open for applications:
- - 31st Kabuki Actor Trainees
- - 11th Kabuki Music (Nagauta) Trainees
- - 13th Noh Drama (Main Roles) Trainees
- - 35th Bunraku Trainees
Application Period:
- - Kabuki Actors, Kabuki Music (Nagauta), Noh Drama (Main Roles): Open until January 30, 2025.
- - Bunraku: Open until January 16, 2025.
Tuition Fees: Free. Note that there are scholarship and housing options available (subject to assessment and may be chargeable).
