LiverRight Strengthens Its Medical Advisory Board to Enhance Liver Care Services

LiverRight Expands Leadership to Provide Innovative Liver Care

LiverRight, the pioneering National Virtual Clinic dedicated to diagnosing and treating liver disease in adults, has taken a significant step in bolstering its leadership by forming a Medical Advisory Board composed of esteemed medical professionals, Dr. Naim Alkhouri and Dr. Rashmee Patil. This strategic development marks a pivotal moment for the organization, which is committed to making timely and high-quality liver care accessible to all Americans.

New Leadership Insights

Dr. Naim Alkhouri assumes the role of the inaugural chair of the LiverRight Medical Advisory Board. With a distinguished background in the field of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH), Dr. Alkhouri brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. He currently serves as Chief Academic Officer at Summit Clinical Research and has co-chaired the Global Think Tank on Steatotic Liver Disease. His expertise will be invaluable in guiding LiverRight's clinical programs and strategic partnerships.

Joining him is Dr. Rashmee Patil, a leading figure in the realm of liver research and the Chief Medical Officer at Pinnacle Clinical Research. Dr. Patil is not only a successful physician but also an entrepreneur and the founder of the South Texas Research Institute. With her extensive experience as the principal investigator in more than 60 studies focused on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, Dr. Patil will also contribute significantly to the board's objectives.

A Collective Mission

These appointments are designed to communicate a clear message: LiverRight is determined to enhance its capacity to serve the millions of adults in the U.S. suffering from liver diseases such as HBV, HCV, PBC, MASLD/MASH, and ALD/MetALD. Brandon Tudor, the CEO of LiverRight, expresses his enthusiasm about the new members joining their mission, stating, "I'm delighted that Naim and Rashmee have agreed to join our mission to bring access to timely, high-quality liver care to all Americans."

Both Dr. Alkhouri and Dr. Patil emphasize the critical role that virtual healthcare solutions play in addressing the urgent needs of patients with liver disease. Dr. Alkhouri commented, "Virtual practices like LiverRight will play a key role in providing an immediate onramp to high-quality care for the 80 million adults living with liver disease. Practically speaking, we lack the population of trained hepatologists and APPs necessary to serve this huge and growing population."

Moreover, Dr. Patil elaborated on the significant advantages that come with transitioning liver health services to a virtual format, noting that it fundamentally changes the patient experience. She stated, "LiverRight provides a far greater benefit than simply moving the in-person visit to the virtual format. This national clinic is reinventing the medium to significantly bend the cost and outcomes curve for all stakeholders, especially patients."

Improving Access to Care

LiverRight’s innovative model allows patients to book same-week video appointments, a stark contrast to traditional in-person visits, which can have wait times of four months or longer. The virtual clinic provides a much-needed solution by ensuring that both newly diagnosed and established patients receive timely consultations.

The model positions LiverRight as a crucial virtual partner in hepatology for various healthcare ecosystem participants, including hospitals, independent gastroenterology practices, primary care physicians, and payers. By streamlining access to specialized liver care, LiverRight aims to close the gap in care availability and promote better health outcomes for all patients.
