Casio Unveils Exquisite MR-G Timepiece with Traditional Japanese Tsuiki Artwork
Casio's New MR-G Timepiece: A Blend of Tradition and Innovation
Casio Computer Co., Ltd. has officially announced the launch of its latest MR-G timepiece, the MRG-B5000HT. This remarkable addition to the renowned G-SHOCK brand represents the union of cutting-edge technology with the rich heritage of Japanese craftsmanship.
The new model preserves the iconic silhouette of the original G-SHOCK 5000 series while incorporating modern artistry through the tsuiki technique. Tsuiki is a traditional Japanese metalworking method that involves hand-hammering to create an intricate three-dimensional design on the surface of the metal. In this case, the bezel and bracelet of the MRG-B5000HT have been meticulously crafted by master artisan Kazuya Watanabe, ensuring that each piece boasts a unique texture and detail.
Exceptional Craftsmanship
Kazuya Watanabe, born in 1978 in Niigata Prefecture, is a veteran in this art form. After studying at the Nagaoka Institute of Design, he joined Gyokusendo, a prestigious copperware factory, before establishing his own forge where he continues to create stunning works that bridge traditional skills with contemporary design.
The MRG-B5000HT's case is crafted from DAT55G, a specially formulated titanium alloy that is three times harder than pure titanium, ensuring that the watch not only looks stunning but also withstands the rigors of daily wear. The finishing touches include a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, giving the watch an oborogin color—a silvery-gray hue that reflects the elegance found in traditional Japanese sword fittings.
Each watch features a deep, lustrous copper accent on the screws and buttons, adding a touch of opulence to its overall design. This bold aesthetic encapsulates the spirit of the G-SHOCK brand, renowned for its unyielding toughness and design innovation.
Limited Edition Exclusive
With only 500 pieces available worldwide, the MRG-B5000HT is not just a timepiece; it is a collector's item that reflects the delicate balance between functionality and artistry. The limited nature of the release ensures that each owner possesses a piece of wearable history, made with skills passed down through generations of Japanese craftsmanship.
The G-SHOCK Legacy
G-SHOCK’s reputation as a leader in shock-resistant watches is well established, and the MR-G series has always represented the pinnacle of this technology. The MRG-B5000HT is no exception, merging state-of-the-art features with exquisite artistry. Its design is not merely for aesthetic appeal but also reinforces the core values of durability and resilience.
