About 'Komebito' ##
'Komebito' is a magazine published by Shimada Group that embodies moments of joy in life: enjoying a delicious meal, the beauty of dusk during check-in, moving into a new residence, or tranquil days in later life. Since its inception in 1952, originally as a rice retail store in Setagaya, Shimada Group has expanded its services across various industries including dining, sake production, real estate, construction, hospitality, elder care, childcare, and travel. The mission of the Shimada Group is to create 'good times' for individuals in different stages of life.
The magazine 'Komebito' was created with aspirations to be as essential as rice to the Japanese people, aiming to provide meaningful experiences.
Each issue features an essay from Hitoshi Tsujii, an Akutagawa Prize-winning author as well as a musician and film director, who is also the namesake of 'Komebito'. The fifth issue is currently available at various Shimada Group facilities including hotels, elder care centers, and through the Shimada Uhei store, as well as digitally in an e-book format.
