Justin Scott, the Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 431, expressed that the motivation and enthusiasm displayed by the workers were crucial in this organizing effort. He stated, "When workers approached us about the need for union representation, it was clear they were ready to advocate for themselves and each other."

The drivers are regulated and highly trained professionals who possess Class A Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDLs) along with hazardous materials hauling endorsements. Their expertise makes them a vital resource for the retail customers and farms they serve across Central Valley, California.

For years, these drivers have expressed frustration over management's incomplete promises regarding wages and benefits. Manuel Martinez, a driver and now a member of Local 431, articulated the transformation the union brings: "Now we possess the strength to hold management accountable. As Teamsters, we demand the respect we deserve."

Another driver, Jose "Pepe" Servin, articulated his excitement about rejoining the Teamsters, having previously been a member. He stated, "I know firsthand that Teamsters deliver cemented advantages in wages, healthcare, and retirement benefits. After the election, my dream of being a Teamster again became a reality, and now we fight for our first fair contract."

Teamsters Local 431 services a broader community of interests, representing over 2,700 members in the regions of Madera and Fresno counties. The recent unionization of the J.R.
