GoWest Credit Union Association Recognized for Excellence

On April 15, 2025, the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN Hospitals) announced that the GoWest Credit Union Association, along with its member credit unions, has been honored with the prestigious 2025 Event of the Year award for the annual MAXX CU4Kids Benefit Auction. This award highlights the significant impact and legacy of GoWest’s fundraising efforts aimed at supporting children's health throughout the region.

Each year, CMN Hospitals selects one exemplary fundraising event that demonstrates excellence in planning, participation, and effect. In 2025, GoWest was specifically recognized for the 2024 edition of the Benefit Auction, themed 'Diamond Round-Up,' which impressively raised $1.2 million for CMN Hospitals spanning the six-state GoWest region—Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. This achievement underscores the commitment and collaboration among credit unions to make a difference in the lives of children and families.

Kristen Schavemaker, Chief Programs Officer at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, expressed gratitude for the impact of the GoWest MAXX Benefit Auction: "Each year, CMN Hospitals benefits from countless outstanding events orchestrated by the credit union industry and other partners. The GoWest MAXX Benefit Auction stands out for its remarkable fundraising, cooperative spirit, and long-term dedication to our mission. The 2024 Benefit Auction, themed 'YeeHaw,' featured engaging activities like a lasso competition and a high-stakes 'Crack the Safe' game, where one fortunate attendee won a dazzling diamond bracelet. Overall, the CU4Kids Benefit Auction has made considerable strides, raising over $11.2 million nationally since its inception in 2002. A key feature of this cherished event is the symbolic red wagons—purchased and donated annually by participating credit unions and presented to the eleven children's hospitals that benefit from the proceeds.

Taking place during the annual GoWest MAXX Conference, which gathers credit union leaders for networking, learning, and celebration, the Benefit Auction has evolved into one of the most spirited and impactful funding showcases within the credit union movement. With each distinctive theme—from the '80s Prom to the Diamond Round-Up—this event has fostered enthusiasm and participation from the credit union community.
