Unveiling HiBy's New RS2 II Portable Hi-Fi Reader with DARWIN III Architecture

HiBy Launches the RS2 II Portable Hi-Fi Player

HiBy has officially introduced the RS2 II, a compact, portable Hi-Fi player that boasts the company's flagship audio architecture, DARWIN III. This new player is designed for audiophiles who desire a premium audio experience in a more portable format, similar to that of the flagship RS8 II model. The RS2 II seamlessly combines HiBy's unique R2R technology, an entirely symmetrical analog stage, HiByOS operating system, and versatile connectivity options.

Innovative Architecture

At the heart of the RS2 II lies the advanced DARWIN III architecture, powered by a newly developed FPGA digital engine featuring over 35,000 logic units and 40 high-speed, high-performance DSP units. This processing platform delivers the computational power necessary to manage HiBy's adjustable pure FIR filters, various DARWIN filters, harmonic control, and native DSD processing alongside NOS/OS switching.

The digital-to-analog conversion is achieved through a high-precision R2R resistor network, which utilizes high-speed electronic switches to manage resistance networks. This process translates digital signals into the corresponding analog voltage levels, significantly reducing high-frequency noise generated during digital modulation while providing a natural, transparent, and musical playback experience.

The analog stage employs a four-stage OPA1612 signal chain, where one OPA1612 handles low-pass filtering downstream of the DAC stage while another manages current amplification after volume control. Two more OPA1612s form a fully symmetrical voltage amplification stage and, at the headphone output, four premium OPA1622 amplifiers ensure independent current amplification across four channels, enhancing dynamic response and control while improving compatibility with multi-driver headphones.

Compact Design

The RS2 II's design is notably more compact than its predecessor. The standard aluminum alloy version weighs only 156 grams and showcases a dark green finish coupled with a houndstooth-patterned back panel. Compared to the original RS2, the display surface has been increased by 45% and resolution improved by 122%. Its new 3.55-inch display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels, combined with thinner bezels, offers a significantly enhanced visual experience.

The upgraded dual-core X1600E platform further bolsters system responsiveness. The dedicated HiByOS operating system that powers the RS2 II accommodates coaxial output, line output, and USB DAC functionality. Furthermore, two microSD card slots allow for total storage expansion up to 4TB.
