SAORI KANDA Presents '祝祭' Spring Art Show
From April 3 to April 21, 2026, the captivating spring art exhibition '祝祭' (Shukusai) by contemporary artist SAORI KANDA will be held at Gallery Tagboat in Ningyocho, Tokyo. Organized by YUGEN Gallery, this exhibition will embrace the essence of spring through a dazzling array of colors, sounds, movements, and visuals, creating a sensory celebration.
Thematic Exploration
Centered on themes such as 'Festival', 'Goddess', and 'Ode to Life', the exhibition invites visitors into a fantastical world defined by vibrant color installations spread across the walls, floors, and entire gallery space. Among the displayed works are fresh drawings from KANDA's 'Goddess' series, along with canvas pieces and three-dimensional works that highlight her unique, life-affirming artistic expressions.
Adding to the excitement, KANDA will curate works from six notable artists and two musicians, showcasing dynamic collaborative installations that blend fashion, photography, video, music, and dance. Highlights include costume artworks painted for dresses and mixed-media pieces that fuse photography with drawing, delivering a creative interplay across various forms of art.
Special Performance Event
One of the exhibition's key attractions will be an art performance on April 4, 2026. In celebration of the special year of Hinoeuma, the event will feature the creation of an impressive over five-meter artwork titled 'Pegasus and the Goddess', performed live through singing and dancing. Attendees are encouraged to don white attire, allowing them to join KANDA and further immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.
As colors bloom across the space and fantastical music enhances the experience, visitors will find themselves swept into a delightful realm of artistic expression.
A Multisensory Celebration
This exhibition serves as a celebration that engages visual, auditory, and bodily sensations, showcasing interdisciplinary works that transcend traditional boundaries. We invite everyone to experience the world of life and festivities woven together by SAORI KANDA and her guest artists in the spring of Tokyo.
