Coffee Lovers Want Convenience, Not Checkout Hassles: Paze Survey Reveals

The Importance of Convenience for Coffee Lovers

As the aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air, coffee drinkers are often willing to go out of their way to secure their perfect cup. However, according to a recent survey by Early Warning Services, the operators of Paze®, a new online checkout solution, consumers don't want to face unnecessary hurdles while completing their orders online. Published ahead of National Coffee Day, this research illustrates the dynamics between coffee cravings and the online purchasing experience.

The Search for the Perfect Cup

A long line at a favorite café is often seen as worthwhile, especially when anticipating that first sip of their beloved brew. Yet, the excitement can quickly fade if consumers are met with extra demands such as filling out additional forms, dealing with forgotten passwords, or hunting for physical credit cards during online checkouts. The survey highlights that while coffee aficionados value their morning jolt, they have little patience for cumbersome checkout processes.

The survey reveals that more than half (51%) of respondents are willing to take a detour or make an extra stop just to get the coffee they desire. Additionally, 39% are inclined to pay a premium for their preferred caffeine fix, while nearly one-third (31%) wouldn't mind waiting in a 15-minute line if it means getting their favorite cup. These findings underscore that consumers are ready to invest time and effort into securing something they appreciate.

Checkout Frustrations

Once they've made the decision to purchase, however, coffee lovers quickly express their dissatisfaction with taxing online checkout processes. The survey highlighted that 34% of consumers would reconsider or abandon their online purchase if confronted with too many steps at checkout. Requiring account creation was a close second concern, with 30% stating they dislike this requirement, and 27% of respondents noted that password resets also contribute to their frustrations.

Other common obstacles include the annoyance of forgetting passwords (25%), needing to input credit card information repeatedly (22%), and searching for physical cards (21%). These hurdles not only cause frustration but can also prevent potential customers from completing their orders altogether.

The Power of Digital Wallets

Among digital wallet users surveyed, a significant 70% reported utilizing a digital wallet for online shopping. This shift towards digital convenience reflects a changing consumer landscape that prizes simplicity and speed in transactions. Paze stands out in this environment by providing a more straightforward checkout process. Offered through banks and credit unions, Paze allows consumers to complete transactions using familiar credit and debit cards without the need to set up a new payment account or manually enter card data. Furthermore, Paze enhances security by ensuring actual card details are never shared with merchants during transactions.

Coffee Preferences Beyond Checkout

The survey didn’t just stop at checkout frustrations; it also revealed interesting insights into coffee consumption habits. An impressive 70% of coffee drinkers prefer coffee for an energy boost over other options like energy drinks (10%), soda (7%), or tea (4%). Interestingly, men seem less inclined towards matcha, with only 1% choosing it as their top energizing beverage, compared to 5% of women.

Complicated coffee orders also came under scrutiny, as 30% of respondents admitted they are likely to judge someone for having an overly elaborate coffee order. Despite this, coffee remains the unrivaled champion of morning routines.

Conclusion: Streamlining the Coffee Experience

For coffee lovers, the daily grind should focus on savoring their drink rather than grappling with checkout processes. As highlighted by the Paze Coffee Survey, consumers appreciate easy access to their favorite beverages yet are dissuaded by complex purchasing methods that detract from their overall experience. Brands must recognize that consumers are eager to engage—provided they can do so without unnecessary obstacles in their path.
