Peace Fes 2026: Understanding Our Role in Global Peace
The cooperative, Pal System Tokyo, led by Chairperson Yoko Nishimura, is excited to announce the upcoming event,
Peace Fes 2026, which will take place on
July 4, 2026, from
12 PM to 4 PM at their headquarters in Shinjuku. This event is dedicated to fostering discussions about peace and generating actionable support for international humanitarian causes.
Event Highlights
This year's Peace Fes will be a hybrid event, with both in-person and online components. The focus will be on raising awareness about the current state of world peace, particularly highlighting the plight of children affected by war. The event features a keynote address by Iranian artist
Sahel Rose, who is known for her powerful advocacy work. She will share her personal experiences as a former war orphan and outline the harsh realities faced by children in conflict zones.
Additionally,
Nikita Troptin, a peace ambassador from Ukraine studying in Ibaraki Prefecture, will join Sahel Rose for a dialogue that aims to convey the realities of war and its impacts on innocent lives. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, allowing for a rich exchange of thoughts about the significance of peace and the privileges many of us often take for granted.
World Bazaar and Volunteer Opportunities
The event will also feature a
World Bazaar, showcasing handcrafted goods and traditional items from regions currently supported by seven international NGOs focused on various humanitarian efforts. Proceeds from the bazaar will directly benefit support programs for affected communities in the Middle East, Ukraine, and beyond.
Attendees will be invited to volunteer for sorting used stamps and postcards collected for humanitarian fundraising efforts. This hands-on experience allows participants to connect with NGO staff and other volunteers while gaining knowledge about the challenges faced by the communities they aim to support.
Activities and Learnings
In previous years, such events have successfully generated substantial funds to support children suffering from poverty, hunger, and conflict. For instance, in the fiscal year 2025, Pal System Tokyo raised over
13 million yen to fund initiatives aimed at improving the lives of children in conflict zones. The Peace Fes series emphasizes the importance of recognizing our responsibilities in a peaceful society and how seemingly small acts can lead to significant change.
The ongoing conflict in regions like the Middle East and Ukraine often strips children of their basic rights to education, safety, and healthcare. With organizations like the
Peshawar Association, which focuses on irrigation projects in Afghanistan, or the
NPO SHARE, which improves child nutrition in Cambodia, the emphasis remains on addressing these urgent needs effectively.
Conclusion: A Call to Action
The
Peace Fes 2026 is not just an event; it's an invitation to witness, learn, and actively participate in the global pursuit of peace. Participants, whether physically present or joining online, will leave not only informed but with a strong sense of purpose regarding their role in promoting peace. Together, we can inspire hope and build bridges across nations.
