Huawei Collaborates with The University of Hong Kong for Smart Campus Network Initiative

On December 12, Huawei and The University of Hong Kong (HKU) celebrated the official launch of the project titled 'The University of Hong Kong & Huawei Global Smart Campus Network Showcase.' This significant collaboration marks a milestone in their joint efforts to develop smarter campus networks and infrastructure.

The project is designed to accelerate the digital and intelligent transformation of HKU while serving as an exemplary model for universities around the globe. Flora Ng, HKU's Chief Information Officer and University Librarian, welcomed attendees at the launch ceremony, where she emphasized the university’s commitment to providing a world-class educational and research environment.

Flora noted, "As a leading global university, HKU is dedicated to integrating education and technology. This partnership with Huawei represents a robust step forward, allowing us to enhance our campus network capabilities significantly."

Both organizations have come together to install a high-quality campus network with a speed of 10 Gb/s and Wi-Fi 7 technology, which has been rolled out across multiple university facilities including libraries, lecture halls, and study zones. These implementations will ensure reliable and seamless connectivity for educational applications in smart classrooms, libraries, and study rooms, laying a solid foundation for a smart campus.

Furthermore, both parties will continue to collaborate on intelligent network solutions while focusing on crucial areas such as network security, intelligent operations and maintenance (OM), and the Internet of Things (IoT) for smart campuses. This cooperation aims to build a safer, more efficient, and smarter educational environment for the future, promoting the digital transformation of the education industry.
