The general incorporated association DMM.make TOKYO has been selected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to manage the TIB FAB initiative, a program aimed at supporting manufacturing startups. This is an exciting opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to participate in the 'TIB FAB Makers Challenge 2025,' which officially opens for applicant registration on June 2, 2025.

What is the TIB FAB Makers Challenge?


The TIB FAB Makers Challenge focuses on supporting seed and pre-seed manufacturing startups. It offers a comprehensive program for individuals who are passionate about turning their startup ideas into reality. Participants will gain essential knowledge in hardware product development, learn practical techniques for effective prototype development, and receive tailored support for product implementation and mass production.

Over the course of six months, this program not only nurtures technical skills in manufacturing but also facilitates essential partnerships and connections to promote mass production and market entry.

Application Requirements


To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • - Have a plan for a manufacturing business with an existing hardware product idea or prototype.
  • - Be at least 15 years old and have graduated from junior high school.
  • - Demonstrate intention to participate actively in product development, whether independently or as part of a team.
  • - Commit to realizing prototype development by January 2026.
  • - Be ready to participate consistently in the program.

Participation Fee


The program is free of charge (participants bear their own food, transportation, and some material costs).

Capacity


Approximately 30 participants will be accepted, with team participation permitted for up to two members.

Format


The program will primarily be held on-site at TIB FAB or designated spaces within TIB.

Upcoming Timeline


1. Application Period: June 2 – July 1, 2025, by 9:59 AM
2. Selection Process: Document and presentation reviews in July.
3. Kick-off for Chosen Participants: August 2, 2025.
4. Program Duration: August 2025 – January 2026 (6 months).
