Terra Charge Expands Fast Charging Service
Terra Charge, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging services, has recently commenced the installation of fast charging stations across 12 Edion locations. This initiative aims to enhance the EV charging infrastructure throughout Japan, supporting the growing demand for electric vehicles.
Background of the Initiative
In line with Japan's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, the expansion of EV charging services has become increasingly urgent. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has set an ambitious target of installing 300,000 EV charging points by 2030, thereby promoting the development of a user-friendly charging network nationwide.
Edion Co., Ltd., known for its electronic retailing, is dedicated to reducing environmental impacts through sustainable practices. This partnership with Terra Charge is a significant step in integrating EV charging services into its stores across Japan. With approximately 68,000 charging points currently in the country, Terra Charge is strategically enhancing the charging infrastructure, making it more accessible for users wherever they go.
Details of the Charging Stations
The newly installed charging stations include:
- - 120kW Dual Ultra-Fast Chargers (90kW max per port) at locations such as Edion Hamamatsu Wada store, Edion Sakashita store, and others across multiple prefectures including Shizuoka, Aichi, Fukuoka, and Osaka.
- - 50kW Single Fast Chargers at additional stores like Edion Sasebo store and Edion Matsue Kunibiki Ohashi store.
This initiative ensures that drivers can charge their EVs conveniently, reflecting the diverse needs of users.
Key Features of the Charging Stations
The services offered by Terra Charge come at no initial or ongoing costs for hosting facilities, featuring reliable Japanese hardware that minimizes supply risks. With comprehensive customer support available year-round, the charging system guarantees both operators and users peace of mind when charging their EVs.
Additionally, all newly deployed charging stations support intuitive smartphone usage, allowing users to scan QR codes for immediate access without requiring a dedicated app. The refreshed Terra Charge app is now available for both iOS and Android, enhancing the overall user experience with its more user-friendly interface.
Future Developments
Terra Charge aims to continue expanding its services into commercial spaces, hotels, and tourist destinations, focusing on areas with significant vehicle use.
