Engaging Consumers in the Verification Process
During the verification event, participants had the opportunity to tour the cherry tomato greenhouses and inspect the agricultural production environment. They reviewed records of pesticide and fertilizer management thoroughly. The event included participation from 'auditors,' who are consumers trained in assessing compliance with the independent cultivation standards set by Palsystem—created to facilitate discussions between consumers and producers focused on reducing chemical pesticides and fertilizers.
The seven auditors reported that they appreciated how the cherry tomatoes are nurtured with care, likening their upbringing to that of a baby. This meticulous production process has enriched their anticipation of the production cards that accompany each pack. They also noted that the documented procedures and plans for cultivation ensure that the verification process among producers is managed appropriately.
Building Trust Among Producers and Consumers
As participants gathered to hear the auditors' reports, they expressed their gratitude towards the producers for their dedication and the positive relationship established with Palsystem through transparency and collaboration.
Looking ahead, Chiba Palsystem emphasizes the importance of maintaining strong connections between producers and consumers while continuing to support environmentally-conscious agricultural practices aimed at the sustainable recycling of local resources.
