ORENDA WORLD Supports Future Creators in Amakusa

ORENDA WORLD, based in Minato, Tokyo, recently engaged with students from the CG series at Kumamoto Prefectural Amakusa Technical High School during their Portfolio Evaluation event. This initiative is part of the "Digital Art Island Creation Project" led by the general incorporation association, Digital Art Amakusa, represented by CEO Yoshiharu Shibuya.

Background to the Initiative

The aim of this initiative is to foster digital talent capable of contributing to the industry directly from Amakusa. In February 2023, ORENDA WORLD signed a location agreement with Amakusa City, focusing on cultivating IT and CG professionals while creating employment opportunities in the region. Beginning in 2024, Amakusa Technical High School will introduce a unique CG curriculum, featuring active creators as instructors to provide practical training. The Portfolio Evaluation event was designed for students to experience industry standards firsthand and identify areas for improvement in their skills.

Overview of the Portfolio Evaluation Event

Held on March 10, 2026, this evaluation saw participation from various content companies, including ORENDA WORLD. The event was structured in two parts: the first segment focused on individual evaluations via an online meeting system (Zoom). Here, professional animators and modelers individually assessed each student’s portfolio. The second segment encompassed a general review where common learning challenges and industry expectations were shared.

Animation Field

• - Understanding the importance of "directing intent" through the use of the “three-part method” in camera layouts, going beyond just character movements.
• - Techniques for imparting a sense of weight and movement dynamics based on physical laws, focusing on “grounding” and contrasts in actions (suspense and impact).

Modeling Field

• - Constructing realism through thorough observation, focusing on texture (look dev) and understanding human anatomy based on scientific principles.
• - Guidance on integrating "imperfection" to eliminate the unnaturalness typically associated with CG.
