Experience the Thrill of SASSEN at the Parasports Event 'ChareSpo! TOKYO'

Experience the Excitement of SASSEN at ChareSpo! TOKYO

On January 18, 2026, the All Japan SASSEN Association participated in an engaging parasport event, "ChareSpo! TOKYO," held at Toyo University Akabane Campus in Tokyo's Kita ward. This exciting event was organized collaboratively by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Paralympic Sports Association, focusing on promoting parasports and creating opportunities for both individuals with disabilities and those without to enjoy sporting activities together.

Approximately 500 attendees flocked to the venue that day. The SASSEN booth offered a unique digital sword-fighting experience called "Cyber Chambara," featuring sensor technology and LED displays. This interactive content attracted participants of all ages, from children to adults, including those using wheelchairs, all of whom embraced the challenge and enjoyment of competing on equal footing.

Among the various activities, the stage events were particularly lively. Notable figures such as comedian Sugi-chan and former figure skating star Narumi Takahashi cheered on as renowned wheelchair basketball player Shinji Neki faced off against Japan's official mascot for the Yomiuri Giants, Javit. The atmosphere was electric, filled with cheers and laughter, representing a heartwarming scene of unity and camaraderie through sports.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with one attendee stating, "I could enjoy it right away, even as a beginner." Another noted, "It’s wonderful to compete seriously under the same rules, regardless of disabilities." These sentiments perfectly encapsulate the spirit of SASSEN, striving to make sport accessible and engaging for everyone—creating an environment where everyone can play a leading role.

Looking ahead, the All Japan SASSEN Association aims to continue expanding the reach of SASSEN as a next-generation sport at various parasport events and community initiatives. They are committed to ensuring that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy this innovative activity, which fosters inclusion and interaction.
