Akamon Introduces Seasonal Summer Menu Featuring 'Natsu Sai Unajuu' from June 15 in All Locations

Akamon Unveils Seasonal Summer Delight: 'Natsu Sai Unajuu'

Akamon Co., Ltd., a renowned eel specialty restaurant, is set to launch its enticing seasonal menu item, 'Natsu Sai Unajuu,' across all its locations starting from June 15, 2026. This limited-time dish, aimed at celebrating the summer season, offers a refreshing twist to traditional unagi.

Menu Details: A Refreshing Summer Experience

The star of the new menu is the 'Natsu Sai Unajuu,' which features grilled eel served on a bed of rice mixed with wasabi greens and plum hijiki (seaweed). The rice beautifully encapsulates the crisp taste of summer, and diners can enjoy a delightful transformation in flavors by adding a thick summer vegetable broth made from moroheiya (a type of leafy green) and okra halfway through their meal. This dish promises to be light, refreshing, and a unique culinary experience.

For those dining in, the 'Natsu Sai Unajuu Gozen' offers a complete set, including the eel dish, okra soup, and warabi mochi (a traditional sweet). On the other hand, takeout locations will offer the 'Natsu Sai Unajuu Bento,' featuring a well-crafted meal with a side of sesame-dressed okra, perfect for summer meals on the go.

Serving Period

About the 'Natsu Sai Unajuu'

Eel has long been revered for enhancing summer vitality. With the intense heat, diners often find richer eel dishes overwhelming. In light of this, Akamon has crafted the 'Natsu Sai Unajuu' to be a lighter, enjoyable meal that captures the flavors of summer. The addition of okra soup and sweet warabi mochi completes the meal, making it not just a feast but a celebration of seasonal ingredients that nourish and invigorate the body.

Comment from the Company

Megumi Koda, CEO of Akamon Co., Ltd., shared her vision for the dish: "Eel is known for its vitality-boosting properties, but we wanted to offer something light and refreshing for the summer. Our goal is to showcase the many ways to enjoy eel throughout the year, not just during Doyo no Ushi."
