Wayne-Sanderson Farms Launches Advanced Feed Mill in Arkansas for Poultry Production
Wayne-Sanderson Farms Unveils New Feed Mill in Danville, Arkansas
Wayne-Sanderson Farms has officially inaugurated its new high-tech feed mill at the Danville Complex in Arkansas, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to the local agricultural community. With an investment of $43 million, this advanced facility is set to produce over 8,500 tons of feed weekly, playing a crucial role in supporting around 130 family farm partners in the area.
During the grand opening ceremony, company officials celebrated alongside local and state dignitaries, emphasizing the importance of this development for both Wayne-Sanderson Farms and the regional agricultural ecosystem. Kevin McDaniel, President and CEO, stated, "The establishment of our new feed mill in Danville signifies our long-term investment in the success of our company and the surrounding farming community."
The new facility is equipped with cutting-edge automation technology, enabling it to create nine different feed formulations tailored to the diverse nutritional needs of poultry. These formulations range from feed for baby chicks to that for broilers, pullets, and hens. What sets this mill apart is its capability to handle up to 26,500 bushels of soy or corn per hour through two dedicated grain receiving systems, reducing transportation bottlenecks and enhancing supply chain efficiency.
In addition to sourcing ingredients from local farmers, the facility boasts expanded storage for feed products and offers additional warehouse space for efficient inventory management. This initiative not only supports Wayne-Sanderson’s commitment to sustainable poultry production but also amplifies economic benefits within the agricultural sector of the area.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Toby Tapp, the Danville Complex Manager, remarked, "We are thrilled to expand our operations in Arkansas and are eager to witness the long-term benefits this new feed mill will bring to our employees, farm partners, and the greater River Valley area." He acknowledged the crucial support received from local bodies and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, affirming the collaborative efforts that have made this project a reality.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony also allowed attendees to explore the facility and engage with the team responsible for its day-to-day operations. Currently, the mill employs a staff of four salaried and 15 hourly workers, highlighting its role in job creation within the community.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders commended the project, stating, "Agriculture is Arkansas' largest industry, and our farmers are the backbone of our economy. Investments like these bolster our rural communities and solidify the future of farming for generations to come."
Clint O'Neal, Executive Director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, added, "The establishment of this feed mill showcases Wayne-Sanderson Farms' dedication to the area, creating new employment opportunities and fostering growth within the poultry industry."
