Throo Expands Its 0% Commission Ride-Hailing Model to Denver

Throo Expands Its 0% Commission Model to Denver

In a bold move aimed at transforming the landscape of ride-hailing, Throo, the 0% commission app, has officially launched in Denver—marking its first market expansion outside New York City since its debut just three months prior.

Founded on a revolutionary model that eliminates commissions typically charged to drivers, Throo aims to create an equitable platform for both riders and drivers. This expansion showcases Throo's commitment to providing affordable rides while maximizing drivers' earnings. In Denver, users can access services directly from the Throo app they already use, utilizing the same accounts and payment methods set up in New York City.

Throo's revolutionary pricing structure means that drivers only pay a flat fee of $1 per trip, regardless of the fare amount. This is a significant contrast to traditional ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft, where drivers endure high commissions that cut into their profits. In fact, according to the company, riders will save over 20% on specific routes, like the average Manhattan–JFK trip, when compared to competitors.

The Denver rides are facilitated by Drivers Cooperative Colorado (COOP), a driver-owned cooperative recognized and authorized for pickups at Denver International Airport. This partnership aligns with Throo’s philosophy of empowering drivers, as COOP members maintain control over their earnings and local pricing while benefiting from Throo’s dispatch technology and rider demand.

Kay Woo, the founder of Throo/TADA, said, 'We are thrilled to launch in our first city outside of New York with COOP—a partner that embodies our core beliefs and mission.' This relationship highlights Throo's vision of a fairer ride-hailing experience where drivers can thrive instead of struggle under heavy commissions.

Soon, Throo plans to launch in additional cities, including Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh by the end of 2026, thus expanding its reach within the United States. With more than 55,000 drivers already on board in New York, the company looks forward to replicating its success in new markets.

As users eagerly await these developments, existing Throo riders in New York can now enjoy their rides across the Denver metro area, providing seamless travel between cities. The app, available on both iOS and Android, covers all five boroughs of New York City as well as the entirety of the Denver metro area, including convenient service at the international airport.

In sum, Throo’s entrance into Denver represents a groundbreaking shift in the ride-hailing industry, targeting both lower costs for riders and better earnings for drivers. As it forges ahead with its innovative approach, Throo is set to reshape the way people perceive ride-hailing services across the nation, fostering community support and partnership amongst drivers.

With this exciting expansion, Throo exemplifies how technology can not only enhance convenience but also promote community ownership and equitable earnings in the gig economy.
